The LEARN Benefit Concert was conceived of by New Trier freshman Emelia Suljic in 2011. Its goal was to fund music education for the children of the LEARN Charter Schools of Chicago, something that didn't exist on any of their campuses at that time. Due in large part to the success of this annual benefit concert, music programming is now available on seven of the ten LEARN campuses.
Thanks to the efforts of Emelia and the Co-Chairs that followed, Lily Piekos, Gracie Nayman, Frankie Nayman and Sophia Feinerman, the children of the LEARN schools are being exposed to music, something that all involved on the LEARN board and those performing so value. Research confirms that attendance and graduation rates both improve with the addition of music classes. In addition, Music Institute of Chicago has been an ongoing partner since Emilia Suljic founded the concert in 2011, and the Board is so grateful for MIC's support throughout the years.
This year, we are putting on a beautiful “Concert in the Park” at the Glencoe Union Church on May 21st.
There will be a Raffle Drawing with fun and exciting prizes, so don't forget to purchase RAFFLE TICKETS at check out!
